The residents and staff of St Peter’s Residential Aged Care in Lane Cove North enjoyed a sumptuous high tea to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Home.
St Peter’s was opened in 2010 by the former Governor-General Quentin Bryce. Back then, the home excitedly welcomed 93 new residents, five of which are still living at St Peter’s. Pictured above is David Maher, Managing Director of Catholic Healthcare with resident Ursula who first came to live at St Peter's 10 years ago.
The development replaced the former St Peter’s Catholic Church in Lane Cove and was built to provide a new, vibrant seniors and aged care village on Sydney’s lower north shore. While the Home was being built, the St Peter’s Green retirement village, council library and café were also constructed, creating a new community hub.
The chapel within St Peter’s also features stain glassed windows, the tabernacle and chairs from the chapel at Justinian House in Crows Nest which had closed down a few months prior.
Flowers were presented to the five original residents, and long service awards were also presented to 15 staff members celebrating 5 years and 10 years with Catholic Healthcare.
