Catholic Healthcare is delighted to welcome St Hedwig Village in Blacktown, Western Sydney as the newest member of the Catholic Healthcare family.
The transfer follows a detailed strategic review where the Board of St Hedwig determined that with the increasing complexity of the aged care environment, Catholic Healthcare is best placed to carry forward the service into the future.
St Hedwig Village includes a Residential Aged Care Home with 132 resident places; Home Care services; a 48-unit retirement village and provides care to the German speaking population of Sydney and the local area.
Chief Executive Officer of St Hedwig Village, Kathy Eberl said, “Catholic Healthcare has a strong track record of providing quality care for seniors and shares our value of focusing on the whole person, and on supporting employees to be passionate about enhancing the lives of those in their care.
“This is a great outcome for residents, families, employees and the broader community with a high quality specialised aged care organisation committed to continuing the proud history of St Hedwig Village.”
Members of the St Hedwig Board and community will retain a close involvement with St Hedwig after the transfer, with the establishment of The St Hedwig Advisory Committee.
Managing Director of Catholic Healthcare, David Maher said, “Our Catholic Healthcare Mission speaks of ‘promoting life in all its fullness’, and we will continue the works of St Hedwig Village in the spirit of compassionate care, providing aged care services that respond to community need, and nurturing our people and their passion for delivering care to our residents and clients.
“We are honoured to be asked to continue providing the services of St Hedwig’s and look forward to combining the strengths of both our organisations,” added Maher.
