At Catholic Healthcare we are shining a 'light' on our people and the exceptional work they are all doing across our services. We share how our teams are innovating, engaging and helping to support the needs of our residents, clients and patients.
This week, meet Rebecca Shaw, Customer Service Operator for Home & Community Services based at St Anne’s in Hunters Hill.
Rebecca’s role involves supporting clients who receive in-home services, ensuring they enjoy the highest quality of care and support possible.
Rebecca regularly liaises with the Home Care Rostering Team for any follow-ups on client services, speaks with the Care Advisors to ensure client Care Plans align with their needs, and assists Community Workers in the field. It’s a multi-faceted role, ranging from managing requests through to following-up on the welfare of clients. Rebecca believes her most important role is assisting clients in understanding their aged care options.
Of the five Catholic Healthcare Values, Rebecca believes that ‘compassion’ is the most important.
“Compassion is not something you can just think about, you must say and do it in your words and actions,” says Rebecca. “I’m honoured to be involved in people’s lives and to help out in any small way.
“Fullness of life comes from connection, and I love establishing a connection with our clients through my daily interactions and service to them.”
Rebecca’s manager, Susie Morgan, says she consistently demonstrates excellence in customer service with compassion, courtesy and patience.
“We saw her commitment to patient care recently when she co-ordinated an ambulance response to a client who let their Care Worker know they had been feeling very unwell. Rebecca efficiently kept all parties up-to-date throughout the process and ensured we had met our duty of care to the client.”
Rebecca also enjoys supporting clients to remain in their own homes.
“The services that Catholic Healthcare provides helps older Australians maintain their independence, freedom and fullness of life. I love being a part of their journey.”
