Christmas is a time of joy and giving, but for many carers, it can also be highly stressful.
At the end of another year dealing with caring responsibilities on top of the difficulties posed by COVID-19, we think carers should consider giving themselves the gift of a well-earned rest!
Thankfully Catholic Healthcare has several options for some of the hardest workers in our community.
Social, Wellness and Respite Centres
Our Wellness Centres are hubs where carers can find some respite, with a range of programs and supports to meet individual needs.
The centres provide light refreshments and meals, medication monitoring, counselling and help with personal care. Carers can also be picked up and dropped off at home.
Depression, anxiety and loneliness are common issues faced by carers, and our centres have the perfect antidote. From group outings and walks to gardening classes, board games and music appreciation, there are plenty of options to reconnect, relax and have fun.
If they feel their health has been a little neglected, we also offer age-appropriate fitness activities. If a carer wants some serious ‘me time’ some centres offer respite care, including overnight stays. This means carers can be confident their loved one is receiving the best of care while they take a well-deserved break.
