The wonderful residential aged care team at McQuoin Park wanted to surprise residents’ families with special gifts this past Christmas. The idea… to have a professional photographer take portraits of their loved ones. The experience was enjoyed by all residents who participated. “This was a wonderful thing to do; it made me feel very special,” said John Stander. Graeme Thorpe agreed, “this feels good getting dressed up – I haven’t had an excuse to wear a suit and tie for ages!”
The Lifestyle team enjoyed pampering residents – they offered hair and make-up services to residents, so they could relax and enjoy the experience. The care and attention didn’t go unnoticed by residents, “I haven’t had my hair and make-up done for a long time. I can’t remember the last time someone took a photo of me,” said Rosemary Kingston.
The portraits were well-received by residents
Once the photo shoot was over and residents saw their photographs, their reactions were touching. “Who is that? That doesn’t look like me… I haven’t looked that good for a long time,” said Shirley Supple. Graeme Thorpe said “I don’t usually take such good photos. This is something I’d like to give to my grandkids”.
Suffice to say the residents enjoyed the photo shoot experience and we’re sure the families enjoyed their lovely gifts too!
It has been some time since some residents had their photo taken
