Catholic Healthcare is a finalist in two award categories in the 11th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards for innovation in telehealth using HoloLens 2. This prestigious event is part of the World Ageing Festival 2023 being held on 24-25 May 2023, which celebrates global care innovations in the aged care industry with 5,000 participants from over 50 countries.
The award categories Catholic Healthcare is being recognised for are:
- Innovation of the Year – response to COVID-19 (Loneliness) and Best Smart Care
- Technology – Operational Management Solution (End-user) for Telehealth
“At Catholic Healthcare we are always looking for innovative solutions such as HoloLens that supports and improves the quality of care we provide our elderly Australians,” says Brett Reedman Chief Information Officer.
The HoloLens 2 project is being trialed in the treatment of wounds. An RN at the home wears AR glasses (HoloLens 2) and connects virtually with a GP, allowing GPs to conduct virtual clinical assessment. It is in pilot stage and being trialed in two Catholic Healthcare residential care homes: McQuoin Park in Wahroonga and St Mary’s Villa in Dubbo.
