At Catholic Healthcare we are shining a 'light' on our people and the exceptional work they are all doing across our services. We share how team members are innovating, engaging and helping to make Catholic Healthcare a great place to work.
This week, meet Nicole Stephens, Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Coordinator for Home & Community Services in Dubbo.
Nicole is celebrating 15 years with Catholic Healthcare! She is based at the Dubbo Wellness Centre (or 'Home Club') which is a specialised service that caters for clients living with dementia, and their carers.
So what has kept Nicole working for so long with Catholic Healthcare?
"I really enjoy seeing the clients with dementia smile, have fun and enjoy the friendships they have made by attending the day centre," says Nicole.
Nicole previously worked as a Community Worker for fourteen years, up until recently when she was promoted to Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Coordinator, earlier this year. As a Community Worker Nicole supported numerous clients.
Her new role sees her branch into different aspects of coordinating the Home Club, the Overnight Respite Cottage, as well as supporting Home and Community Care clients. Nicole plans and implements activities for clients, attends to personal issues that may arise, and ensures that the clients who attend the Home Club have nutritious and healthy meals each day.
"Other aspects of my work include signing up new clients, conducting client reviews and sourcing new clients. Additionally, I now assist in facilitating Health and Wellness exercise programs on offer too," says Nicole.
Nicole is definitely a very busy woman, and is internally driven by a sense of purpose in her role.
"I am helping clients who attend the Home Club to live their lives to the fullest by providing a safe, friendly and fun place to share with the friends that they make while they are here. In a place like the Home Club, it is essential to make clients and carers feel welcome, comfortable and safe."
"Moving forward, my ambition in my new role is to build up the CHSP client numbers and offer multiple services within the Orana region to support the clients as well as their carers."
