What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding refers to the processes and frameworks in place to ensure that the environment, services, and activities of an organisation are safe for those who engage in it.
As Catholic Healthcare is already subject to aged care, NDIS and WHS safety requirements, safeguarding within Catholic Healthcare aims to identify, assess, mitigate, or eliminate risks that may arise due to, or in connection with, the presence in our workplaces of persons:
- who have been convicted of crimes of violence; or
- who are subject to apprehended violence or similar orders.
What is involved in Safeguarding at Catholic Healthcare?
Catholic Healthcare has introduced a safeguarding policy and approach. All employees are receiving safeguarding training and a safeguarding team has been established to support safeguarding risk assessment and mitigation, and to respond to questions or concerns about safeguarding.
What is the Safeguarding Team?
The safeguarding team is led by the General Manager Legal and is supported by officers of different disciplines including social work, clinical and legal.
