New sensory garden sprouts at St Anne’s

At St Anne’s Residential Aged Care in Hunters Hill, a new sensory garden is sprouting in moveable garden beds.

Residents had enormous fun planting all different kinds of fragrant herbs and vegetables and reminiscing about their own gardens and tips to keep them flourishing.

"The best thing about these new moveable garden beds is that we can also wheel them inside the Home so residents that do not wish to go outside or choose to stay in their rooms, can also enjoy the experience - some from the comfort of their own bed," says Anthony, Recreational Activities Coordinator.

“Many of the residents miss gardening so the moveable beds are part of a plan to utilise and renew the St Anne’s garden. This is the first step to make the garden an even better place to visit and enjoy for residents and family members.”

Next up, the Home will start planting some favourite flower bulbs including tulips and daffodils in a second moveable garden bed.
