Claire, a resident of Our Lady of Loreto Gardens (Hamlyn Terrace), recently added centenarian to her list of accomplishments.
Claire adores classical music and had always dreamed about attending an event at the Sydney Opera House. The team at Our Lady of Loreto Gardens knew about Claire’s wish and nominated her for Catholic Healthcare’s My Wish program, which grants special, once-in-a-lifetime experiences to residents.
Claire’s wish was granted, and she celebrated her 100th birthday in style. Claire was greeted by a stretch limousine which transferred her to the Sydney Opera House, where she enjoyed a Mozart concert, followed by a sumptuous five-course lunch, overlooking Sydney Harbour. Claire enjoyed every moment of the day and was grateful for her wish coming true. “The concert was great… and the lunch was terrific. The whole thing was just perfect,” said Claire.
The Mozart concert was especially moving as it was the day that Queen Elizabeth II passed away. The orchestra played a special tribute to the Queen, playing God Save the Queen.
Our Lady of Loreto Gardens Residential Manager, Bradley Roberts, pictured below, accompanied Claire to her My Wish experience. As they drove across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and over to the Sydney Opera House, Claire spoke of her memories of these iconic landmarks being built, which Bradley said was fascinating!
And what’s Claire’s advice on living a long life? Claire credits her genes and “to have moderation in all things”.
