Wagga Wellness Centre Olympics Extravaganza!

Clients from the Wagga Wagga Wellness Centre participated in a belated Olympics extravaganza event, after training hard and preparing for many weeks!

“Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, we had to postpone the event. However, with Wagga coming out of lockdown last week, our clients were very excited to hear the news that the Olympics was to go ahead,” says Jane, Business Manager, Home Care.

The program of events included traditional and not-so-traditional games and sports such as bowling, discus, target shooting, basketball, a bean-bag toss and volleyball. All of the events were conducted outdoors on the spacious grassy area outside the Wellness Centre.

The catering for the day was a typical Aussie BBQ, complete with sausages and rissoles, prepared on the Wellness Centre’s new BBQ.

“Our lovely chef, Sarah, prepared a hearty BBQ feast, followed by fresh fruit for dessert,” says Jane.

“Our Home Care clients had such a great day and competed in all the games in line with the true Olympic spirit. They embodied the Olympic Creed:

The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

It was just the panacea needed to brighten the spirits of all the clients and staff who were involved on the day.

“Special thanks go out to the Wellness Centre staff, Tanya, Deb, Julie, Sarah and Jo-Anne for making the event possible,” says Jane.
